Ask Allison: My 10-year-old wants to wear revealing, sexualised clothes like her friends. How do I handle this?

Question: I have a 10-year-old daughter who loves getting dressed up and playing with makeup. I don’t really have an issue with a bit of lip gloss at this age but the clothes she wants to wear — belly tops, string vests and tight dresses — appal me. I seem to be the only one though, lots of her friends are wearing very tight, short dresses at 11 and 12.
